101-year-old woman still plays complex card game
Winging it, for Adkins, includes generous helpings of bridge games and not just the social version of the game. She participates in contract bridge tournaments where players accumulate points and compete for the top spots in a ranking system. Her theory is that healthy aging is a matter of doing what you enjoy. Bridge, she said, is an important tool in the sort of mental stimulation that may slow or even prevent Alzheimer's disease, but it is just one tool.
